What to know before your first edit.

What kinds of edits work best?

Clear, local changes: recolour a product, swap an object, replace a background, remove clutter, or change the text on a sign or a package. Ask for one change at a time and name what must stay the same.

Which model runs my edit?

In Image Editor, instruction edits and area replacement run on GPT Image 2. Image Studio also offers Nano Banana Pro, Nano Banana 2 and Seedream 5.0 Pro for reference-based edits, like the cake and the coast road on this page.

Can I edit only part of the image?

Yes. Paint over the area on the canvas and describe what should appear there. Only the painted area is redrawn.

How much does an edit cost?

Manual tools such as crop, filters, text and drawing are free, and so is planning a video in Director, within usage limits. AI actions are paid in credits, and each shows its estimate before it runs.

What happens to my original?

It stays in Lab. Every AI result and every export is saved as a new image, so you can always go back to the source.

What should I avoid?

Vague requests like “make it better”, and edits to people, logos or artwork you have no rights to change. State what must change and what must remain untouched.
