Glossary
AI presenter
An AI-generated or AI-animated person who speaks a script to camera, used in explainer videos, product demos, courses and company updates.
An AI presenter is a person on screen who is generated or animated by AI and speaks a script to camera. Instead of filming someone, you give the system a face and a voice track, and a talking-avatar model moves the lips, eyes and head to match the speech. Changing the message means changing the script and rendering again, not booking a new shoot.
The term describes the role the face plays: explaining, selling or teaching. It says nothing about whose face it is, which is why consent matters more for AI presenters than for most AI video.
Where the face comes from
AI presenters differ in who the viewer sees:
- A real person who agreed to it: a portrait of a founder, an employee or a brand ambassador, animated to speak any script.
- A generated character: a face made in an image model that belongs to no one and stays the same from video to video.
- A preset presenter: a ready-made professional presenter from a model's library; no portrait is needed.
The choice shapes trust. Viewers accept a preset presenter in training and support videos; in sales and personal brands, a recognizable face of the company usually works better.
AI presenter, spokesperson, avatar: the words
- A talking avatar is the technique: a face animated to speech.
- An AI presenter is the role that face plays in a video.
- An AI spokesperson is a presenter who speaks for a brand or a product, usually in ads, demos and sales videos.
- A digital twin is a presenter modelled on one specific real person, usually from recorded footage of them.
Limits and risks
- Presenters are strongest to camera. Walking, handling a product and wide shots still need filmed footage or generated scenes around the presenter.
- The portrait sets the ceiling: a sharp, evenly lit, front-facing photo gives a steadier result than a face cropped from a group shot.
- A real person's face or voice needs their permission, for each language and platform, and a presenter must never pose as someone else (Terms, section 6).
- Some platforms and laws require AI-generated people to be labelled; check before you publish (Terms, section 7).

Questions
Is an AI presenter the same as a talking avatar?
Almost. A talking avatar is the technique, a face animated to speech; an AI presenter is the role that face plays in a video: explaining, selling or teaching.
Is an AI presenter a deepfake?
Not when the person shown agreed to it, or when the face belongs to no one. A deepfake imitates a real person without their consent or in order to deceive; the technique can be the same, the permission and the purpose are not. See What is a deepfake?
Do viewers have to be told that a presenter is AI?
Often, yes. Several platforms ask uploaders to label realistic AI-generated people, and some laws require a label in certain cases, such as election ads. Labelling also protects trust: viewers who find out later feel misled.
